Ficcadenti banking on Swierczok to lead Nagoya Grampus' bid for AFC Champions League glory

Toyota City: Massimo Ficcadenti believes his Nagoya Grampus side will continue to improve as Jakub Swierczok adapts to his teammates after the Polish striker hit a hat-trick against Daegu FC to take the Japanese side into the quarter-finals of the 2021 AFC Champions League.

Grampus reached the last eight of the competition for the first time since 2009 with a 4-2 win over the club from Korea Republic as Swierczok ensured the J-League side fought back after twice going behind.

The 28-year-old was making his debut appearance in the AFC Champions League after joining Nagoya from Ludogorets Razgrad over the summer and Ficcadenti is relishing the impact the forward can have as he adapts to life in Japan.
