Golmohammadi pleased with Persepolis' AFC Champions League start, Al Wahda's ten Cate eyes improvement

Goa: Yahya Golmohammadi was satisfied with Persepolis FC's performance despite a more difficult than expected start to their 2021 AFC Champions League Group E campaign against Al Wahda on Wednesday.

A first-half strike from captain Seyyed Jalal Hosseini gave the Iranian giants the edge over Al Wahda as Golmohammadi’s men collected maximum points at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Goa: Veteran defender Seyed Jalal Hosseini scored five minutes before halftime to earn last season’s AFC Champions League finalists Persepolis a 1-0 win over Al Wahda of the United Arab Emirates in their opening Group E clash in Goa on Wednesday.

Persepolis, who lost last year's final to Korea Republic's Ulsan Hyundai, kicked off their 2021 campaign with a hard-fought win at the Pandit Jawaharial Nehru Stadium that gives Yahya Golmohammadi’s side the ideal start to their quest for an elusive continental club title.

Goa: Head coach Juan Ferrando wants FC Goa to be more adventurous in attack following their 0-0 stalemate in their 2021 AFC Champions League Group E opener against Qatar’s Al Rayyan on Wednesday.

Al Rayyan had plenty of chances to score but failed to capitalise as Goa, who had limited opportunities upfront, kept their opponents at bay.
