Group A: Ighalo, Al Dawsari take Al Hilal into Round of 16

Riyadh: Al Hilal SFC kept their flawless run intact in Group A, defeating Tajikistan’s Istiklol 3-0 to become the first team to qualify for the AFC Champions League™ 2022 Round of 16 on Tuesday.

It was all Al Hilal from start to finish with Odion Ighalo netting a brace and Salem Al Dawsari a late third for the Saudi Arabian side who are seeking to win the AFC Champions League for the third time in four years. 

The result leaves Al Hilal with 12 points, five more than Al Rayyan, while UAE’s Sharjah - who lost 3-1 to the Qatari side earlier on Tuesday, are third with four points. Al Hilal's place in the Round of 16 is assured irrespective of the results from the remaining two matchdays.

Riyadh: Al Rayyan boosted their hopes of advancing to the AFC Champions League™ 2022 knockout stage with a 3-1 defeat of Sharjah in Group A on Tuesday.

Caio’s long-range effort cancelled out Salem Sultan’s own goal but Al Rayyan roared back with Steven N'zonzi and Brahimi finding the net as the Qatari side moved to seven points, three ahead of their vanquished opponents. Defending champions Al Hilal lead the group.

Dammam: A cagey affair at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium saw Al Faisaly FC and FC Nasaf share the points in a 0-0 draw on Matchday Four of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group E on Tuesday.

Following Al Wehdat’s 3-1 victory against Al Sadd SC earlier in the evening, both sides came into the late kick-off aware of the added significance of the clash. For Al Faisaly, victory would mean they put a foot and a half in the next round, while for Nasaf, defeat would mark the end of their hopes of a first-place finish.

Dammam:  Al Wehdat secured a famous 3-1 victory against Qatar’s Al Sadd on Matchday Four of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group E at Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium on Tuesday.

The Jordanian side came into the game with the knowledge any result other than victory would diminish their chances of reaching the knockout stage for the first time in their history, while Al Sadd needed three points to stay in contention for the top spot.

Group H: Jeonbuk edge Yokohama for first victory

Ho Chi Minh: Stanislav Iljutcenko’s first half penalty sealed a 1-0 win for two-time champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors over Japan’s Yokohama F Marinos in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday to move to the top of Group H of the AFC Champions League™ 2022.

Iljutcenko converted from the spot in the 31st minute to give Kim Sang-sik’s side their first win of this year’s campaign, moving the K-League side onto four points from their first two games after starting the competition with a draw against Sydney FC on Saturday.
 
Jeonbuk, who previously won the title in 2006 and 2016, lead the standings by a point from Yokohama, with Sydney FC in third on two points and Hoang Anh Gia Lai bottom with a solitary point.

Ho Chi Minh: Second half substitute Trent Buhagiar scored with his first touch to earn Sydney FC a 1-1 draw with Vietnam’s Hoang Anh Gia Lai in Group H of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday.

Vu Van Thanh had given HAGL a 26th minute lead with a strike from distance before Buhagiar levelled the scores 14 minutes into the second half having just replaced Adam Le Fondre. 
 
The result gives HAGL their first point of the 2022 campaign while Sydney have now drawn both of their games after sharing the points with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in their opening clash on Friday.

Group J: Vissel Kobe defeat Kitchee for flying start

Buriram: Vissel Kobe got their AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group J campaign off to a winning start after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Hong Kong’s Kitchee SC at the Buriram City Stadium on Tuesday.

Semi-finalists two years ago, Vissel opened the scoring on the 15-minute mark through Yuta Goke and then doubled their lead when Shion Inoue struck with five minutes remaining before having to survive a late scare after Alex Akande netted for Kitchee in added time. 

The win sees Vissel join Kitchee on top of the three-team Group J on three points, with Thailand's Chiangrai United propping up the table having yet to pick up a point.
