Group E: Tavares strike secures Al Faisaly victory over FC Nasaf

Dammam: Debutants Al Faisaly continued their impressive run in the AFC Champions League™ 2022, beating FC Nasaf 1-0 at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium on Friday to move three points clear at the top of Group E.

The Saudi Pro League relegation battlers are now unbeaten in three games, having drawn 1-1 against Al Wehdat on the opening matchday, then defeated two-time champions Al Sadd 2-1 last time out before Friday’s triumph over Nasaf.

Group E: Al Sadd beat Al Wehdat to get back on track

Dammam: Al Sadd SC breathed life into their AFC Champions League™ Group E campaign after beating Al Wehdat SC 5-2 on Friday.

The two teams had met on Matchday Three 12 months ago, with Al Sadd winning 3-1 on the night before adding a second win a few days later, meaning Al Wehdat came into Friday’s game in pursuit of their first win against Qatari opponents in the competition.

Group A: Al Hilal defeat Istiklol to stay perfect

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal SFC made it three wins in a row after defeating Istiklol of Tajikistan 1-0 in their AFC Champions League™ 2022  Group A tie on Friday. 

Istiklol produced a good defensive performance, keeping Al Hilal at bay in the first half but the deadlock was finally broken  by Salman Al Faraj minutes into the second period.

The result leaves Al Hilal with nine points, five ahead of Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Sharjah of UAE, while Istiklol remain without a point.

Riyadh: Steven N'zonzi was Al Rayyan's hero as his strike salvaged a 1-1 draw with Sharjah in their AFC Champions League™ 2022  Group A tie on Friday. 

Bernard’s sublime free-kick separated the sides going into the break before N'zonzi ensured Al Rayyan walked away with a share of the points after scoring from close range.

The result leaves the teams on four points at the halfway stage, with both having much to do if they are to advance to the Round of 16.
