Group G: Pllana, Park strikes secure Jeonnam Dragon victory

Pathum Thani: Leonard Pllana kept Jeonnam Dragons’ hopes of a first ever AFC Champions League™ knockout stage berth alive, playing a key role in a crucial 2-0 win over ten-man United City FC on Wednesday.

The Kosovan forward scored seven minutes after being introduced as a second-half substitute, before Park In-hyeok added a late sealer, to increase the Korean FA Cup winners' tally to seven points from five matches, but their path to the Round of 16 remains far from straightforward.
 
Jeonnam must now defeat group leaders BG Pathum United on Saturday and hope bottom placed United City can pull off an upset against Melbourne City, but even that scenario may not be enough if they are not among the three best second-placed teams in the competition’s East Zone.

Pathum Thani: BG Pathum United and Melbourne City FC ensured the race to top AFC Champions League™ Group G will go to the final day after the sides played out a scoreless draw at Pathum Thani Stadium on Wednesday.

The result keeps both sides in with a chance of reaching the last 16, but neither will be sure of safety until at least Saturday after the section’s two best teams went toe-to-toe over 90 compelling minutes.
 
With 11 points from five matches BG Pathum remain on top of the group, and will stay there if they beat Jeonnam Dragons in their final match, while Melbourne City increased their tally to nine ahead of their clash against United City FC.
