Group J: Port FC defeat Guangzhou FC to revive AFC Champions League hopes
Buriram: Port FC picked up their first-ever AFC Champions League victory on Sunday as goals from Elias Dolah, Pakorn Prempak and Philip Roller earned the Thai League side a 3-0 win over Guangzhou FC in a Group J tie.
Elias opened the scoring in the 21st minute and Pakorn headed in a second 15 minutes after the interval to ignite the debutant club’s challenge for a place in the knockout rounds after Thursday’s loss to Kitchee. Roller added the third 14 minutes from time.
The loss was the second in a row for a youthful Guangzhou side undone again by vulnerability in the heart of their defence three days after being ruthlessly exposed in similar fashion by Cerezo Osaka.

It took the reigning Asian champions 91 minutes of hard work to break the deadlock against debutants Viettel, with the Austrian striker finding the back of the net with his backheel effort that deflected off defender Nguyen Thanh Binh’s legs.
