Al Hassa: Al Fateh coach Fethi Jebel insisted that his team still have a chance of reaching the Knockout Stage of the AFC Champions League despite failing to score yet again in the goalless draw with El Jaish of Qatar on Wednesday.
The Saudi champions are the only team that have yet to score in this year’s tournament after three games and they now find themselves in last place in Group B with two points, three less than front-runners Foolad of Iran and El Jaish.
But Jebel wanted to focus on the positives for his team, who are making their debut in a continental club tournament this year, when he spoke after the match.
“We tried our best to get a good result today but we were not lucky,” he said. “We wanted to get to the goal of our opponents and we created some chances to score but we failed to convert those chances into goals.
“The match was good for the two teams and despite the result today we still have a chance. We must concentrate in the next three matches and get positive results starting from the next match against El Jaish in Doha.”
El Jaish coach Nabil Maaloul was more satisfied with the result.
“The match was balanced in the two periods and both sides shared possession,” he said. “We came here to win but at the same time an away point is still good and all the teams still have a chance to go through from the group.
“It was not easy for us to play and adapt to the pitch which was not good and didn’t help us to have a good performance. The draw is a fair result for the two teams as they performed well but couldn’t score.”
