Melbourne: Carlos Salvachúa's Melbourne Victory sealed a 5-0 victory over Indonesia's Bali United in their 2020 AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage 2 tie at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on Tuesday.
First-half strikes from Migjen Basha and Josh Hope gave the A-League club a 2-0 lead with Robbie Kruse, Ola Toivonen and Elvis Kamsoba completing the win in the second half.
Victory will now face 2018 champions Kashima Antlers of Japan in next week's Playoff with the winners to advance to Group E alongside China PR's Beijing FC, Thailand's Chiangrai United and another side from the qualifying rounds.
Preliminary Stage 1: Ceres Negros FC (PHI) 3-2 Shan United FC (MYA)
Manila: Ceres Negros secured their place in the second round of the 2020 AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage after surviving a late Shan United FC fightback to win 3-2 on Tuesday.
The two teams are familiar foes, having met as recent as in the 2019 AFC Cup Group Stage and having also crossed paths in the 2018 AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage, with Ceres Negros emerging victors in a 4-3 penalty shoot-out after that game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
Preliminary Stage 1: Tampines Rovers FC (SIN) 3-5 Bali United FC (IDN)
Singapore: Stefano Lilipaly and Sidik Saimima's extra-time strikes gave Indonesia's Bali United a 5-3 win over Tampines Rovers of Singapore in their 2020 AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage 1 tie at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday.
Melvin Platje's first-half double gave Bali United a two-goal cushion before Boris Kopitovic pulled one back for Tampines Rovers going into the break.
The Singapore side came out fighting in the second half to level the score before taking the lead but Bali forced the game into extra-time after levelling the tie eight minutes before the end and Lilipaly and Saimima finished the job in extra-time to send Bali United through to the Preliminary Stage Two.
Preliminary Stage 1: Chennai City FC (IND) 0-1 Riffa SC (BHR)
Ahmedabad: Mahdi Abduljabbar's first half goal earned Riffa SC of Bahrain a narrow 1-0 win over India's Chennai City FC in their 2020 AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage 1 tie at the Arena Stadium on Tuesday.
Abduljabbar's goal four minutes from the break separated the sides as Riffa held on to their slim advantage to progress into the Preliminary Stage Two.
