Preview - Group B: Sharjah focused on continuing positive AFC Champions League form against Tractor

Sharjah: Group B hosts Sharjah will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the group when they face Islamic Republic of Iran’s Tractor FC in Matchday Two of the 2021 AFC Champions League on Saturday.

Sharjah got their campaign underway with a 1-0 win over Iraq’s Air Force Club on Wednesday. Khalid Bawazir swept home Caio’s cross midway through the second half to give the Emiratis their first three points.

Jeddah: A delighted Farhad Majidi has warned that Esteghlal can only get better after their 5-2 win over Al Ahli Saudi FC in Group C of the 2021 AFC Champions League on Thursday.

Kasimov applauds AGMK players after AFC Champions League draw with Al Hilal 

Riyadh: Head coach Mirdjalal Kasimov hailed his AGMK FC players after the Uzbekistan side battled to a 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal SFC in their AFC Champions League group stage debut on Thursday.

Going into the Group A tie as outsiders, AGMK came within a whisker of defeating the 2019 AFC Champions League winners, with Zafar Polvonov giving them an 11th minute lead.

An own goal by Sardor Rakhmanov (27th) and Luciano Vietto's 36th minute strike meant Al Hilal took the lead going into the break but Sanjar Shaakhmedov scored in the 70th to ensure AGMK ended the night with their first AFC Champions League point.

Jeddah: Head coach Sabri Lamouchi said it was hugely important for Al Duhail SC to open their 2021 AFC Champions League Group C campaign with a win.

Goals from Michael Olunga and Edmilson Junior steered the Qataris to a perfect start against Iraq’s Al Shorta at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Thursday, with Lamouchi's only regret being the margin of victory which he felt should have been higher.
