Jeddah: Al Duhail SC head coach Sabri Lamouchi labeled his side’s 2021 AFC Champions League Group C draw with Esteghlal FC on Saturday as “yet another crazy match.”
In a thoroughly entertaining encounter, Kenyan forward Michael Olunga’s brace for Al Duhail was cancelled out by Cheick Diabate and Mehdi Ghaedi of the Islamic Republic of Iran side as the draw followed the Qatari team's exciting 4-3 win on Matchday Three.
The result meant Al Duhail remain unbeaten after four games, topping Group C with eight points, while Esteghlal continue to chase with seven points to their name, level with Al Ahli Saudi FC. Matchday Five sees Al Duhail facing Iraq’s Al Shorta while Esteghlal clash with Al Ahli on Tuesday.

Riyadh: Shabab Al Ahli Dubai head coach Mahdi Ali praised his side’s ability to change, which secured the UAE club a 3-1 win over AGMK FC in Group A of the 2021 AFC Champions League on Saturday.
Three first half goals secured Shabab Al Ahli the crucial win, placing them third in the standings and giving them renewed hope that they can advance to the Round of 16 with matches against FC Istiklol of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal SFC to come.
Istiklol, who stunned Al Hilal 4-1 on Saturday, lead the group on seven points with Al Hilal second. AGMK are on four points.
Reghecampf hails Al Ahli Saudi for overcoming Al Shorta in 'difficult' AFC Champions League clash
Jeddah: Head coach Laurentiu Reghecampf praised his Al Ahli Saudi FC side for a 'difficult 2-1' win against Al Shorta on Saturday to keep the Saudi Arabia club in contention in Group C of the 2021 AFC Champions League.
Al Shorta looked set to claim their first point of the campaign when Fahad Youssef cancelled out Omar Al Soma's early opener but Abdulrahman Ghareeb made sure of victory for Al Ahli Saudi, notching the winner 11 minutes from time.
The result sees the Saudi Pro League side climb to seven points with a game against Islamic Republic of Iran's Esteghlal FC up next, while Al Shorta, whose elimination has been confirmed, take on Qatar’s Al Duhail SC.
Al Duhail lead on eight points, with Esteghlal ahead of Al Ahli Saudi on goal difference. Only the group winners are assured of advancing to the Round of 16.
