Buriram: Urawa Red Diamonds head coach Ricardo Rodriguez wants his side to repeat their Matchday One winning performance when they face Shandong Taishan FC in Group F of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 on Monday.

The two-time AFC Champions League winners kicked off their campaign with an emphatic 4-1 win over Lion City Sailors FC two days ago to sit second in the standings on goal difference behind Daegu FC.

Lion City Sailors will close the gap, says coach Kim

Buriram: Singapore’s Lion City Sailors FC kicked off their maiden AFC Champions League™ campaign with a 4-1 defeat to Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan, but head coach Kim Do-hoon has promised to ‘reduce the gap’ in their upcoming Group F matches. 

The J League side cruised to an opening day win with four different players etching their names on the scoresheet, and were denied a clean sheet by David Moberg’s first half on goal.

Buriram: Daegu FC head coach Alexandre Gama praised his team for executing their plans perfectly to pick up their first win in Group F of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 on Friday. 

The K League outfit scored seven unanswered goals to secure the three points against Shandong Taishan FC at the Buriram City Stadium to sit top of the standings, with Urawa Red Diamonds in second place on goal difference.

Ho Chi Minh City: Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors head coach Kim Sang-sik and his Sydney FC counterpart Steve Corica both expressed disappointment following a 0-0 draw in their opening AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group H tie on Saturday.

While Kim admitted his Jeonbuk side had been below par, it was a case of a missed opportunity for Sydney's Corica, with the Australian side having performed the better of the two teams.

The result leaves both teams trailing Yokohama F. Marinos, who opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over Vietnam's Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the day's earlier match.

Ho Chi Minh City: Kevin Muscat hailed his Yokohama F. Marinos players after the Japanese side kicked off their AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group H campaign with a 2-1 win over Hoang Anh Gia Lai on Saturday.

Yokohama looked to be well on the way to victory after Brazilian Leo Ceara gave them a 2-0 lead by the 25th minute but an own goal by captain Takuya Kida changed the complexion of the match as Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) found renewed vigour and made their opponents work hard for the win under sweltering conditions.

Pathum Thani: Jeonnam Dragons are not in the AFC Champions League™ 2022 just to make up the numbers according to Leonard Pllana, who scored a late winner in Friday’s 1-0 victory over United City.

After a lacklustre first half where they rarely threatened their Filipino opponents, the Korean FA Cup holders seized a greater sense of control after the interval, with Pllana a key threat down the right-hand side.
 
Their pressure finally paid off in the 87th minute, when Jeonnam’s recently signed Kosovan forward eased home the game’s decisive goal after evading the attention of a fatigued United City defence.
