Ho Chi Minh: Sydney FC are braced for a tough challenge when they play hosts Hoang Anh Gia Lai in Group H of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 on Tuesday.

Sydney opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in a match they had ample opportunities to win, while HAGL impressed despite going down 2-1 to Yokohama F. Marinos.

The teams took home a share of the points with a 1-1 draw on Matchday Three with Al Shabab leading the standings with seven points, three more than Air Force Club.

Buraidah: Al Taawoun FC head coach John van den Brom is confident his side can repeat their Matchday Three win against Sepahan FC when the two sides meet again on Monday on Matchday Four of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group D at the former’s home ground. 

The previous game saw Al Taawoun dominate proceedings following Ezzatollah Pourghaz’s early dismissal for the Iran Pro League side. This resulted in Moharram Navidkia’s men facing an uphill battle to get anything from the game, having played for almost 80 minutes with just 10 players.

It was swift and decisive for Al Taawoun, who came out comfortable 3-0 winners thanks to club captain Nawaf Al Subhi heading in Alvaro Medran’s free-kick, before a second half kick-off blitz saw former FC Porto forward Ze Luis double the home side’s lead from Tareq Mohammed’s perfect cross. Yazeed Al Bakr rounded off the win after meeting Saad Yaslam’s cross. This was the club’s biggest ever AFC Champions League win.
