Sydney: Kaya FC-Iloilo are looking to repeat the heroics of 2018, when fellow Filipino side Ceres Negros came to Australia and defeated Brisbane Roar, ahead of their 2022 AFC Champions League winners-take-all showdown with Sydney FC on Tuesday. 

The winners of the Preliminary Stage tie at Jubilee Stadium will advance to Group H, where they will join hosts Hoang Anh Gia Lai of Vietnam, two-time champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of Korea Republic and Japan’s Yokohama F. Marinos.

Kuala Lumpur: The 2022 AFC Champions League’s qualifying rounds are set to kick off on Tuesday, March 8 as Sydney FC host Kaya FC-Iloilo of the Philippines with a place in the group stage up for grabs.

Kaya are aiming to reach the competition proper for the second successive year after overcoming Shanghai Port in the playoffs last time round, although a trip to Australia to take on an A-League giant provides a huge hurdle to overcome.

Turkmenistan’s Mingazov joins Kitchee’s AFC Champions League push

Hong Kong: Kitchee SC have added international experience to their 2022 AFC Champions League push, securing the signature of Turkmenistan midfielder Ruslan Mingazov on Thursday.

An attacking midfielder or winger, the 30-year-old joins the club after contributing seven goals in all competitions for Kazakhstan Premier League outfit FC Caspiy last season and is expected to feature in next month’s continental campaign.
