Score line didn’t reflect United City’s performance, says Withe

Pathum Thani: United City FC head coach Jason Withe threw his support behind his defeated players, saying their performance deserved more than the 5-0 loss they were eventually handed by AFC Champions League™ Group G leaders BG Pathum United on Thursday.

The Filipino outfit showed signs of improvement from their earlier defeat against Melbourne City, and at times tested their in-form hosts, but a late avalanche of goals ensured BG Pathum walked away with their biggest ever win in the competition.
 
With the hosts holding a 1-0 lead for most of the second half, it was a 76th-minute error by goalkeeper Anthony Pinthus which provided the turning point, with Worachit Kanitsribumphen scoring the first of four goals in what became a horror 12-minute spell for United City.

Buriram: Head coach Yu Yuanwei was more than satisfied with the improvement of his Shandong Taishan FC side after they earned their first point in Group F of the AFC Champions League™ on Thursday. 

Shandong, having picked up valuable lessons from their heavy defeats to Daegu FC and Urawa Red Diamonds, held Singapore's Lion City Sailors FC to a goalless draw at the Buriram City Stadium.

Group G: BG Pathum flex muscles to defeat United City

Pathum Thani: BG Pathum United kept their unbeaten AFC Champions League™ 2022 record intact with a 5-0 win over United City FC at Pathum Thani Stadium on Thursday.

Makoto Teguramori’s men were at times challenged by the Filipino outfit, but Kanokpon Puspakom’s opener gave them room to breathe before a four-goal avalanche saw the margin blow out late in the game.

With seven points of a possible nine secured, BG Pathum remain on course to return to the knockout stage for a second successive year, with United City still without a point at the halfway point of the group stage.

Pathum Thani: First half goals from Carl Jenkinson helped Andrew Nabbout helped Melbourne City FC to an important 2-1 AFC Champions League™ Group G win over Jeonnam Dragons at Pathum Thani Stadium on Thursday.

The duo scored either side of Lee Kyu-huk's equaliser in an action packed first-half, with the Australian club holding on to take their tally to seven points from three games, while an improved Jeonnam fell four points off the pace after dropping a second successive match.
