Riyadh: Al Shabab have strengthened their arsenal ahead of their 2013 AFC quarter-final clash with Kashiwa Reysol with the signing of Saudi Arabia international Naif Hazazi from two-time ACL winners Al Ittihad.
The signing of one of Arab football’s hottest properties brings some much-needed good news in the transfer market for Al Shabab fans after seeing the departures of Nasser Al Shamrani to rivals Al Hilal and Sebastian Tagliabue, top scorer in last season’s Saudi Arabia league, who left to join Al Wahda in the UAE.
Hazazi is no stranger to Asia’s premier club competition having scored 14 times in 27 AFC Champions League appearances for Al Ittihad.
The dynamic 24-year-old, pictured in 2012 AFC Champions League action, will be looking to help his new club into the final of this year’s ACL with victory over Japan’s Kashiwa Reysol in the forthcoming quarter-finals.
Kashiwa host the first leg on August 21 before the action shifts to the King Fahd International Stadium for the return fixture on September 18.
