Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s AFC Champions League 2014 contenders Al Shabab went 13 points behind leaders Al Nassr after succumbing to a disappointing 3-1 home defeat at the hands of battling Al Shoalah in Saudi Pro League on Friday.
Playing at their own turf, Al Shabab were looking like walking away with all three points after Essa Al Mehyani put them 1-0 ahead in the 24th minute.
Ahmad Sadd brought the scored at level 1-1 in the 40th minute and as Shabab was desperate for a home win, Mali midfielder Lassana Fane struck a killer blow in the 84th minute and Waleed Al Gizani added one more in the stoppage time.
Al Shabab are in Group A also featuring Iran champions Esteghlal, UAE’s current table-toppers Al Ahli and Al Rayyan of Qatar.
