Suwon: The AFC Champions League 2013 Group H contenders Suwon Bluewings strengthened their attack by signing DPR Korea striker Jong Tae-se from the German Bundesliga second-division side FC Koln.
The 28-year old, who arrived in Korea Republic on Tuesday, was officially unveiled on Thursday by the club for a reported transfer fee of 300,000 euros ($395,850).
Jong, born in Japan to a South Korean father and a North Korean mother, has scored 15 goals in 28 matches for DPR Korea. He will become the fourth DPR Korean to play in the K League Classic. The last was An Yong-Hak - also Japanese-born - who played for two different Korea Republic clubs from 2006 to 2009.
"I am very honoured to join the big club like Suwon,” the former Kawasaki Frontale striker said in the unveiling function organized by the club on Thursday.
"I have played in Germany recently and I would like use those experiences to win K League (Classic) title and other competitions that Suwon will be involved.”
"My main goal is to win K League (Classic) title. To win the K League (Classic) title, the minimum target is to score at least 15 goals as a striker,” he added after signing the three-year contract with Suwon.
Suwon, who finished third in the K-League 2012 (now K League Classic), will resume their continental adventures after a year hiatus on 27 February with a trip to Australia where they face Central Coast Mariners. Japanese cup champions Kashiwa Reysol and Chinese side Guizhou Renhe are other sides in Group H.
