Sydney's Corica looking forward to AFC Champions League challenge after win against Kaya FC Iloilo

Sydney: Sydney FC coach Steve Corica is relishing his side’s return to the Group Stages of the AFC Champions League next month after the five-time A-League champions brushed aside Kaya FC Iloilo to book their place in Group H of this year’s competition.

Trent Buhagiar opened the scoring for the Australians before a brace each for Brazilian striker Bob and English substitute Adam Le Fondre gave Sydney a comfortable 5-0 win in challenging conditions in a stormy Sydney.

Sydney FC cruise past Kaya FC to book group stage berth

Sydney: Sydney FC moved into the Group Stage of the 2022 AFC Champions League on Tuesday as Trent Buhagiar’s first half opener was followed by braces for both Bobo and Adam Le Fondre as Steve Corica’s team claimed a 5-0 win over Kaya FC Iloilo from the Philippines at Kogarah Oval.

The A-League side progress into Group H of the continental championship, where they will take on two-time champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors from Korea Republic, Japan’s Yokohama F Marinos and Vietnamese hosts Hoang Anh Gia Lai in Ho Chi Minh City next month.

Iraq to host first AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar™ contest

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed that Iraq will host their upcoming AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar™ Group A tie against the United Arab Emirates on March 24, 2022, at the Al-Madina International Stadium in Baghdad City.

The decision, which was confirmed by FIFA, will see Iraq play their first AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar™ on home soil since the start of the campaign.

Kuwait City: Vitezslav Lavicka has been named as head coach of the Kuwait men’s national team.

The 58-year-old replaces Kuwaiti Thamer Enad with his first major assignment being the AFC Asian Cup China 2023™ Qualifiers Final Round in June.

Kuwait, the only former winners in the draw, will host Group A with Jordan, Indonesia and Nepal for company.

Jamshedpur FC win first ISL Winner's Shield

Goa: Ritwik Das was the hero as Jamshedpur FC defeated ATK Mohun Bagan 1-0 to lift the Indian Super League Winner’s Shield in Goa on Monday.

It was a historic victory for the Red Miners as they lifted the Shield for the first time in their history.

Victory was well deserved as it came on the back of a run of a record seven successive wins, which helped them amass a total 43 points - the highest in the tournament's history.
