Ulsan’s Hong applauds Yoon for AFC Champions League masterclass against Kaya FC-Iloilo

Bangkok: Ulsan Hyundai FC head coach Hong Myung-bo praised match winner Yoon Bit-garam for his tireless efforts in ensuring their AFC Champions League unbeaten run remained intact after beating Kaya FC-Iloilo 2-1 on Monday. 

Yoon had opened the scoring in bizarre fashion in the 27th minute when the ball hit his face before settling in the net but defending champions Ulsan were reduced to 10 men in the Group F just four minutes later after Kim Min-jun was sent off.

Kaya emerged stronger in the second half to score in the 47th minute, but Player of the Match Yoon restored their lead almost immediately to extend Ulsan’s winning streak to 13 matches.

Tashkent: Daegu FC head coach Lee Byung-geun allowed himself to look ahead to Thursday’s likely group-decider against Kawasaki Frontale after his side saw off Beijing FC for a second time in four days at Bunyodkor Stadium on Monday.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Executive Committee has approved today the AFC Competitions Committee’s recommendation to reschedule all Knockout Stage matches of the AFC Cup 2021 and AFC Champions League 2021 (from the Quarter-finals onwards) from its current home and away format to single leg ties. 

Taking into consideration the existing uncertainties related to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the ongoing travel restrictions imposed across the Continent, the AFC Executive Committee agreed that it was essential to minimise the travel frequency of the participating clubs, while underlining its continued commitment towards ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all players, teams, officials and key stakeholders.
