Abu Dhabi: New Al Jazira signing Mirko Vucinic has insisted that he opted to play in Asia for success and not for early retirement.
Speaking after he was officially unveiled by the Abu Dhabi-based side on Sunday, the three-time Serie A winner with Juventus reiterated his determination to bring success back to the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
Al Jazira suffered an ACL Round of 16 loss to UAE rivals Al Ain this season and managed third position in the domestic league by finishing 19 points behind champions Al Ahli.
The Montenegro international arrives to spearhead Al Jazira’s attacking department following the departure of Felipe Caicedo.
“I would like to thank Al Jazira club, the management and my colleagues in the team. They have welcomed me and the negotiations did not take that long because I knew about the club and I knew about the history,” he was quoted as saying by Sports 360°.
“This club has not won titles for some years now and I felt this need and will from them to win something. I want this too, I want to win.
“I am currently 30, next October I will be 31 and I would like to have my future here,” said the former AS Roma star.
