Thailand finish top, Australia bow out on a positive note

Manila: Thailand pounced on a  Philippines defensive lapse to win 1-0 and wrest the Group A top spot in the AFF Women’s Championship 2022 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Tuesday.

Philippines finished second ahead of Australia, who defeated Malaysia 6-0, while Singapore earned their first three points after defeating Indonesia 2-0, in the other Group A fixtures.

In Bishkek, Abdish-Ata picked up three points against FC Ilbirs to continue their fine form in the Kyrgyz Premier League.

Meanwhile, Maziya S&RC maintained their five-point gap over second placed Club Eagles in the Maldives Premier League.

CFA unveils nationwide league to discover new talents

Hangzhou: In efforts to unearth potential talents and to spread the spirit of football, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) recently launched the China Youth Football League (CYFL) which will organise various age-group tournaments in cities across China PR.

The opening ceremony of the CYFL was launched on July 10 and attended by officials from the Ministry of Education, the State General Administration of Sport (GAS) and the CFA.

Uzbekistan set pace with victory over Tajikistan, Turkmenistan hold Kyrgyz Republic

Dushanbe: Defending champions Uzbekistan opened their CAFA Women's Championship 2022 campaign in style with a 6-0 win over Tajikistan at the Republican Central Stadium on Monday.

Turkmenistan, meanwhile, notched a second successive draw, holding Kyrgyz Republic 0-0 in the day’s other fixture.

Uzbekistan lead the standings ahead of Islamic Republic of Iran on goal difference with Turkmenistan third on two points.
