Kuala Lumpur: Ahead of the 2021 AFC Cup West Zonal Semi-finals taking place on Monday and Tuesday, we profile four players who could make the difference for their club sides as they pursue continental glory.

Reigning champions Al Ahed have added firepower over the summer but will face stiff competition from fellow West Zone teams who all boast in their ranks players capable of delivering success in the business end of the competition.

Hilal El Helwe - Al Ahed FC (LBN)

Al Ahed made a statement in the domestic transfer market by recruiting Lebanese international forward Hilal Helwe from Jordan’s Al Faisaly. El Helwe had represented the Jordanian side in the 2021 AFC Cup group stage, playing in each of their three matches in Group C and creating two chances.

Born in Germany, 26-year-old El Helwe brings with him eight years’ worth of experience in European football, having also plied his trade in Greece. Internationally, El Helwe was crucial in Lebanon’s qualification to the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar, scoring three goals as the Cedars finished second in Group H.
