Abdullah, Bunjak praise Kuwait SC, Al Seeb Club for gritty performance

Seeb: Both head coaches hailed the efforts of their respective players after Kuwait SC narrowly edged out Group A hosts Al Seeb 2-1 on Matchday Two of the AFC Cup™ 2022 on Saturday.

An end-to-end game saw Kuwait SC take the lead in added time of the first half through Taha Khenissi’s second goal of the campaign, but their joy was short-lived as Muhsin Al Ghassani headed home the equaliser before the half-time whistle.

Club captain Fahad Al Rashidi won the game for the Kuwaiti side midway through the second half, sweeping home a loose ball from close range after Yousef Al Sulaiman’s initial effort was blocked.

Kuwait City: Head coach Ante Mise admitted luck favoured his side after Arabi carved out a 1-0 win over Shabab Al Khalil in Group B of the AFC Cup™ 2022 on Saturday.

It was their second successive victory and Arabi will look to guarantee top spot in the table against Oman’s Dhofar FC on Matchday Three, while the eliminated Shabab Al Khalil will take on Bahrain’s Al Riffa.

Muharraq: Player of the match Boukonta Sarr said Nejmeh shouldn’t dwell on their 2-0 victory over Palestine’s Hilal Al Quds in Group C of the AFC Cup™ 2022 on Saturday.

Sarr opened the scoring for Nejmeh in the second half before Ali Alaaeddine doubled their advantage in added time to hand the Lebanese club the first win of their campaign.

Nejmeh are on four points and lead the standings on goal difference ahead of Bahrain’s Al Riffa, who defeated Oman’s Dhofar Club 3-2 in Group C’s other Saturday fixture.

Kolkata: Head coach Miodrag Jesic applauded his Maziya Sports & Recreation side after they revived their AFC Cup™ 2022 hopes with a hard fought 1-0 win over Gokulam Kerala FC on Saturday. 

An opening day 1-0 defeat to Bangladesh's Bashundhara Kings meant another loss on Saturday would have ended Maziya's hopes with a match to spare but the side from the Maldives rose to the occasion against a Gokulam Kerala team who had beaten fellow Indian side ATK Mohun Bagan 4-2 in their opener.

Colaco dedicates hat-trick to ATK Mohun Bagan teammates, family

Kolkata: A delighted Liston Colaco paid tribute to his teammates and family after his hat-trick powered ATK Mohun Bagan to a commanding 4-0 win over Bashundhara Kings in Group D of the AFC Cup™ 2022 on Saturday.

Colaco struck in the 24th, 33rd and 53rd minutes with David Williams adding the fourth in the 77th as the Indian side bounced back from their 4-2 defeat to Gokulam Kerala FC on Matchday One to revive their hopes.

With Maziya Sports & Recreation defeating Gokulam Kerala 1-0 later on Saturday, all four teams are on three points heading into Matchday Three.
