Kuala Lumpur: Champions Hilal Al Quds enjoy a special place in Palestinian football. One of the most westerly clubs in this year’s AFC Cup, Hilal Al Quds will be aiming to impress on the Continental stage.
The beginnings
Hilal Al-Quds was founded in 1972, as one of the first organised multisport clubs in Palestine. Since its foundation the club has offered an outlet to develop the city’s young population through sports, art and culture. The first team play their home games at Faisal Husseini Stadium in Al Ram, which is currently under renovation.
In total, since the beginning of the professional era the club have won two Championship titles, two Cup titles, three West Bank Super Cups and one League Cup title. Hilal Al Quds are an honourable member of the ‘Fab 5’ of Palestinian football; the only five clubs to have never been relegated from the top division.
