Kedah’s Ronald Ngah winner of AFC Cup™ 2022 - Best Goals of Group Stage!

Kuala Lumpur: Kedah Darul Aman’s Ronald Ngah has emerged the winner of the AFC Cup™ 2022 - Best Goals of Group Stage.

The 30-year-old, who missed a penalty earlier, went on to deliver a sublime performance as he created the fourth goal before scoring the ultimate individual goal, embarking on a powerful solo run that saw him bypass the Visakha FC backline before applying a composed finish to sign off a 5-1 win for the Malaysian side.

Ngah's effort garnered 57 percent of the votes.

Viettel’s Hoang Duc targets AFC Cup™ 2022 final

Ho Chi Minh City: Viettel FC midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc has admitted that the Vietnamese club have set their sights on reaching the AFC Cup™ 2022 final as they prepare to face Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur City FC in the ASEAN Zonal Semi-final on Wednesday. 

Making their debut in the continental competition, Viettel stormed through June's group stage, winning all three of their games and scoring a joint tournament-leading 11 goals in the process to advance to the knockout rounds with minimal fuss.

Since then, however, Viettel’s league form has dipped as they have lost four from six and fallen to mid-table in the V.League. But with continental action to resume against Kuala Lumpur City at Ho Chi Minh City’s Thong Nhat Stadium on Wednesday, Hoang Duc is hoping the competition can inspire an upturn in fortunes.

Kuala Lumpur: Paulo Josue is looking to write a new chapter in Kuala Lumpur City FC’s history as the Brazilian gets set to lead the Malaysian side into the 2022 AFC Cup™ ASEAN Zonal Semi-finals against Vietnam’s Viettel FC on August 10. 

After captaining the capital city side to their first Malaysia Cup since 1989 last year, the 33-year-old - who has been at the club since 2017 - was a standout performer as Kuala Lumpur made their AFC Cup debut in June and advanced to the knockout rounds as the best-placed runners-up. 

Following a goalless draw against PSM Makassar in their opening Group H game, the midfielder netted two outstanding goals in the 2-1 win over Tampines Rovers that ensured Kuala Lumpur joined PSM, fellow Malaysian side Kedah Darul Aman and opponents Viettel in the ASEAN Zonal Semi-finals.

Rizky: I'm fulfilling lifelong dream with PSM in AFC Cup™

Makassar: Rizky Eka Pratama has admitted it’s a dream come true to represent boyhood club PSM Makassar in the AFC Cup™ 2022 as the Indonesian side look forward to their ASEAN Zonal Semi-final against Malaysia’s Kedah Darul Aman on August 9. 

Winger Rizky, who was born in South Sulawesi, not far from Makassar, was instrumental in helping his side reach the knockout rounds as he scored one and created another in the come-from-behind 3-1 group stage win over Singapore’s Tampines Rovers in June to help PSM top the Group H standings. 

The victory saw them qualify for the ASEAN Zonal Semi-finals for the second time, having reached the same stage in 2019, and the lifelong PSM fan is now hoping to go even further.
