Bangkok: AFC Cup quarter-finalists Chonburi will have to overturn a one-goal deficit if they are to remain in the hunt for the Thai League Cup after going down to Bangkok Glass in the first-leg of their last-eight clash on Wednesday.
The only goal of the game at the LEO Stadium came in the 33rd minute courtesy of Nigerian striker Samuel Ajayi, who joined Bangkok Glass in 2008 from Cambodia's Phnom Penh Crown.
Chonburi host the return fixture on September 12, four days after their Thailand Premier League meeting with reigning champions Buriram United.
Chonburi, who have yet to taste defeat in this year's AFC Cup, are gearing up for a last-eight clash with an Al Shorta side looking to become the fifth Syrian club to contest the trophy following the inaugural final between Al Jaish and Al Wahda in 2004, Al Karamah's runners-up finish in 2009 and Al Ittihad's triumph a year later.
The Thais host the first leg on September 18 before the return fixture in the Middle East on the 26th, which will be played in Zaqra, Jordan due to the social unrest in Syria.
