Preview - Group A: Nejmeh SC v Hilal Alquds Club

Jeddah: Hilal Alquds Club will look to keep their hopes of reaching the 2019 AFC Cup Zonal Semi-Finals alive when they face Lebanon’s Nejmeh SC at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Group A on Monday.

The Palestinian side had made history on Friday, recording their first-ever AFC Cup win in the reverse fixture, defeating Nejmeh 2-1 on the same ground.

The result left them in third place with five points. A repeat triumph over bottom side Nejmeh would set up a top-of-the-table clash between Hilal Alquds and current group leaders Al Wehdat of Jordan on May 14.

Jeddah: Goals from Oday Dabbagh and Mohammed Yameen earned Hilal Alquds their first-ever AFC Cup victory in a 2-1 win over Lebanon’s Nejmeh SC at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Friday.

The rescheduled Matchday Three fixture in Group A saw Dabbagh net his second goal of the 2019 AFC Cup to open the scoring for the Palestinian side six minutes before the half-time break.

Yameen added a second for Hilal Alquds in the 69th minute to cement their victory, before veteran Hassan Maatouk pulled one back for Nejmeh 10 minutes from time. The Lebanese international’s strike would prove to be merely consolation as Hilal Alquds walked away with the three points.

Hong Kong: Sandro's brace steered Wofoo Tai Po to their first Hong Kong Premier League title as Lee Chi-kin's side defeated R & F 2-1 on Saturday to take an unassailable lead at the top of the standings with just one match remaining.

The title triumph completed Tai Po’s fairy-tale rise as they became the first district team to win the Hong Kong Premier League.

Tai Po were one of the district teams introduced by the Hong Kong Football Association with the help of the government in 2002 and they started their journey in the Third Division.

Bandung: Former PSM Makassar boss Robert Alberts has been confirmed as the new head coach for Persib Bandung ahead of the new Indonesia Liga 1 season.

The 64-year-old Dutchman replaces Montenegrin Miljan Radović at the helm before the domestic season starts on May 15.

Radović’s last match for Persib was their 2018-19 Piala Indonesia 2-1 quarter-finals first-leg defeat to Borneo FC. Alberts' team will face Mario Gomez’s side at home in the return leg on Saturday.

Ahmedabad: Chennayin FC midfielder Anirudh Thapa hailed an important victory after his team edged to 1-0 victory over Abahani Limited Dhaka to move clear at the top of Group E in the 2019 AFC Cup.

In a close match, the Indian Super League side earned three points thanks to a late own goal from Wellington Priori, who deflected Thapa’s low cross in at the near post.

It took until the 79th minute for the home side to make the breakthrough and Thapa paid tribute to the resolute defending that provided the foundation for a vital win.
