Beirut: Lebanese club Safa received a morale boost for their AFC Cup rematch with Al Zawra'a of Iraq next week after beating Shabab Al Sahel 2-0 in the Lebanese Premier League at the Beirut Municipal Stadium on Saturday.
Just four days earlier, Safa lost 1-0 away to Al Zawra’a in the second matchday in Group E of the AFC Cup, where Safa are residing at the third position so far while Al Zawra’a stand second and Al Shorta of Syria top the table.
Mohammad Zain Tahan opened the scoring in the 20th minute while Khodar Salameh sent in the last goal in the 58th minute for Safa who now sit in the second place with 46 points, four adrift of leaders Al Nejmeh in the Lebanese league standings.
Safa are hoping win against Al Zawra’a this time round on April 11 at the Sports City Stadium.
