Group A: Al Seeb impress against Al Ansar to make West Zonal Semi-finals

Seeb: Group A hosts Al Seeb Club recorded a comprehensive 4-0 victory against Lebanon’s Al Ansar on Matchday Three of the AFC Cup™ 2022 to book their place in the West Zonal Semi-finals.

The Bahraini side finished on six points, one ahead of three-time champions Kuwait SC who were held to a goalless draw by Syria's Jableh.

Al Seeb will play Kuwait's Al Arabi, the Group A winners, in the West Zonal Semi-finals.

Group A: Draw dashes Jableh, Kuwait SC's hopes

Muscat: Last year’s West Zonal Finalists Kuwait SC crashed out of the AFC Cup™ 2022 at the group stage after playing out a 0-0 draw against Jableh SC of Syria in the final match of Group A on Tuesday.

Al Seeb Club’s 4-0 win over Al Ansar earlier in the day meant Kuwait SC needed a win to regain the top of the group, while the draw lefts them fighting for the best runner-up spot which went to Group B’s Al Riffa who defeated Shabab Al Khalil 3-1 to end their campaign with six points, one more than the Kuwaiti side.

Kuwait City: Al Riffa advanced to the AFC Cup™ 2022 West Zonal Semi-finals after emerging 3-1 winners in a thrilling encounter against Shabab Al Khalil in their final Group B match at the Kuwait SC Stadium on Tuesday.

The Bahraini side confirmed progression as the best runners-up, joining group leaders Arabi SC while Shabab Al Khalil crashed out on Matchday Two. 

Al Riffa will play fellow Bahraini side East Riffa, the Group C winners, in the West Zonal Semi-finals.

Group B: Arabi through after stalemate with Dhofar

Kuwait City: Arabi SC booked a place in the AFC Cup™ 2022 West Zonal Semi-finals after playing to a 1-1 draw with Dhofar FC in their final Group B match at the Kuwait SC Stadium on Tuesday.

The result saw Kuwait's Al Arabi progressing to the next round courtesy of topping Group B with seven points. Dhofar, on the other hand, missed out as Al Riffa advanced as the best runners-up.

Arabi will play Oman's Al Seeb Club, the Group A winners, in the West Zonal Semi-finals.

Group C: Tishreen, Nejmeh fall short

Muharraq: Tishreen saved their best for last as they cruised to a 3-1 win over Nejmeh SC in Group C of the AFC Cup™ 2022 on Tuesday.

Victory for the Syrian side, however, was not enough as they - along with Lebanon's Nejmeh - crashed out of the competition with Bahrain's East Riffa topping Group C.

Muharraq: East Riffa staged a stunning second half fightback to earn a 2-2 draw against Hilal Alquds in Group C on Tuesday to seal their place in the knockout stage of the AFC Cup™ 2022.

Mohammed Maraaba gave Palestine's Hilal Alquds a two-goal cushion before East Riffa came back fighting in the second half through goals from Jasim Khelaif and Luiz Fernando as the Bahraini side advanced to the West Zonal Semi-finals. as group winners. 

They will face Al Riffa in the West Zonal Semi-finals, with their fellow Bahraini side having advanced as the best runners-up.

Group D: ATK Mohun Bagan power past Maziya to book knockout stage spot

Kolkata:  India’s ATK Mohun Bagan surged into the AFC Cup™ 2022 knockout stage with a 5-2 win over Maziya Sports & Recreation of the Maldives on Tuesday.

Needing a win and nothing less to secure top spot in Group D, the group hosts got up and running thanks to a first half brace from Finnish midfielder Joini Kauko, then went on with the job after half-time to delight the crowd at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium.

The result sent the Indian Super League outfit to the Inter-Zone Semi-finals for the second successive season, with the club to resume their continental campaign in early September.

Group D: No joy for Bashundhara Kings despite win over Gokulam Kerala

Kolkata: Bashundhara Kings temporarily kept their AFC Cup™ 2022 knockout stage hopes alive, but were ultimately eliminated despite  a 2-1 Matchday Three win against Gokulam Kerala at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium on Tuesday.

ATK Mohun Bagan's 5-2 win against Maziya Sports & Recreation later in the evening meant the Indian Super League side won the group by virtue-of their superior head-to-head record, ending Bashundhara's brave bid at the group stage despite a fabulous showing from Captain Robinho, who scored one brilliant goal and set up another.
