Education City and Ahmad Bin Ali stadiums to host FIFA Club World Cup 2020

Zurich: Following confirmation that, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and related quarantine measures required by the New Zealand authorities, Auckland City FC will be unable to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup 2020, FIFA has adapted the competition’s match schedule.

The competition format remains unchanged, with the opening match forfeited. The tournament will now be staged at Education City and Ahmad Bin Ali Stadiums, while Khalifa International Stadium, which was originally due to host two games, will not be used.

Jeonju: Two-time AFC Champions League winners Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have announced the signing of Russian striker Stanislav Iljutchenko from K League rivals Pohang Steelers.

The 30-year-old was the second highest scorer in the league last season with 19 goals in 26 appearances and was named in the K League’s Best XI for the season.

Omar Khrbin joins UAE’s Al Wahda

Abu Dhabi: Four-time UAE Pro League champions Al Wahda announced on Sunday the signing of Syrian international forward Omar Khrbin on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old Khrbin, who recently ended his contract with Saudi giants Al Hilal, has penned a 30-month contract with the Abu Dhabi giants, the club said.
