Yoshida: Win over Marinos will spark Vissel Kobe revival

Saitama: Takayuki Yoshida is confident Vissel Kobe’s surprise 3-2 win over Yokohama F Marinos in the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 will give his players a much-needed boost for what remains of the competition and going into the rest of the domestic season.

Kobe have struggled in the J1 League so far this season and are currently 24 points adrift of Marinos in the standings, but Yoshida’s side shrugged off that difference to knock Kevin Muscat’s side out of the continental championship.
 
Goals from Nanasei Iino, Daiju Sasaki and Yutaro Oda earned Kobe a famous win and takes the 2020 semi-finalists into Saturday’s draw for the last eight.

Kim hails resilient players after late drama takes Jeonbuk through

Saitama: Head coach Kim Sang-sik applauded his players after Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors struck late to score a 2-1 win over Daegu FC to book a spot in the AFC Champions League™ 2022 (East) quarter-finals on Thursday. 

In a meeting between two Korea Republic side, Song Min-kyu gave Jeonbuk the lead under sweltering conditions at the Urawa Komaba Stadium but Zeca's equaliser forced extra-time.

Substitute Kim Jin-gyu, however, scored in added time at the end of the additional 30 minutes to secure two-time champions Jeonbuk an AFC Champions League last eight spot for the 10th time.

Vissel Kobe stun Yokohama F. Marinos

Saitama: Vissel Kobe ripped up the form book to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 on Thursday as the J1 League strugglers handed compatriots Yokohama F. Marinos a 3-2 defeat at Saitama Stadium 2002.

Kobe, currently third from bottom of the J1 standings, claimed a comprehensive win over the Japanese league leaders with goals from Nanasei Iino, Daiju Sasaki and Yutaro Oda sealing the deal for Takayuki Yoshida’s side as Marinos miss out on the last eight once again.

Khujand City: PFC Sogdiana were at their clinical best as they continued their dream AFC Cup™ debut campaign by beating FC Khujand 4-0 in the Central Zonal final on Wednesday , but head coach Ulugbek Bakaev wants his side to improve even further heading into the Inter-Zone Semi-finals.

Three goals in the first half gave Sogdiana a comfortable lead, with Javokhir Kakhramonov sealing a convincing win for the Uzbek Super League club with his strike in the 78th minute as they advanced to a showdown with Hong Kong's Eastern Long Lions in the Inter-Zone Semi-finals on September 6.

Chonburi: Thailand’s College of Asian Scholars defeated ISPE WFC of Myanmar 2-0 in the AFC Women’s Club Championship™ 2022 East at the Chonburi Stadium on Thursday.

First half goals from U-Raiporn Yongkul and Kanyanat Chetthabutr were enough to steer College of Asian Scholars to victory and top the standings ahead of Taichung Blue Whale of Chinese Taipei.
