New signings boost Kitchee's Round of 16 charge

Hong Kong: Hong Kong Premier League champions Kitchee SC have signed Eastern Long Lions duo Mikael Severo and Eduardo Praes as well as Jordon Brown from Resources Capital ahead of their appearance in the AFC Champions League™ 2022 Round of 16 next month.

Kitchee are due to play Thailand’s BG Pathum United in the Round of 16 in Saitama on August 19 as the Hong Kong side make their first-ever appearance in the knockout rounds of the continental showpiece.

Thailand finish top, Australia bow out on a positive note

Manila: Thailand pounced on a  Philippines defensive lapse to win 1-0 and wrest the Group A top spot in the AFF Women’s Championship 2022 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Tuesday.

Philippines finished second ahead of Australia, who defeated Malaysia 6-0, while Singapore earned their first three points after defeating Indonesia 2-0, in the other Group A fixtures.

Dushanbe: Defending champions Uzbekistan opened their CAFA Women's Championship 2022 campaign in style with a 6-0 win over Tajikistan at the Republican Central Stadium on Monday.

Turkmenistan, meanwhile, notched a second successive draw, holding Kyrgyz Republic 0-0 in the day’s other fixture.

Uzbekistan lead the standings ahead of Islamic Republic of Iran on goal difference with Turkmenistan third on two points.
