Dushanbe: Fereshteh Karimi was among the star players as Islamic Republic of Iran claimed the inaugural CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship on Friday. 

The two-time AFC Women’s Futsal Championship MVP winner completed a unique hat-trick, winning the award for the best player in the four-team tournament held at Dushanbe Indoor Hall.

Mai: Vietnam showed a lot of heart against Myanmar

Navi Mumbai: Head coach Mai Duc Chung paid tribute to Vietnam’s courage following their 2-2 draw with Myanmar which secured their slot in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ quarter-finals on Thursday.

Vietnam had to come back twice through Nguyen Thị Tuyet Dung and Huynh Nhu to cancel out strikes from Myanmar’s Win Theingi Tun and Khin Marlar Tun at the D.Y. Patil Stadium as they pipped their Southeast Asian rivals to a place in the knockout stage.

Vietnam advanced as one of the two best third-placed teams and will play eight-time champions China PR in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

Ikeda hails Japan’s team spirit

Pune: Japan head coach Futoshi Ikeda was proud of his team despite the 1-1 draw with Korea Republic on Thursday, a result which meant the two-time defending champions advanced to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ quarter-finals as Group C winners. 

Having kicked off their title defence with 5-0 and 3-0 wins over Myanmar and Vietnam respectively, Korea Republic were expected to be Japan’s toughest challenge.
