Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) commitment to prioritise the health and wellbeing of all its stakeholders by upholding the highest health protocol standards was further underlined after the AFC Medical Committee agreed at its meeting on Tuesday to form the AFC COVID-19 Advisory Expert Group.
Epidemiological and Public Health Experts will be tasked to provide the AFC with expert advice on the current pandemic and establish recommendations and guidance in the management and prevention of the infection.
Leading the discussions at its third meeting, Chairperson Dato’ Dr. Gurcharan Singh said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has been the toughest crisis in modern history, and it is crucial that we continue to support our Member Associations and provide important professional advice to the AFC.
“Through the AFC COVID-19 Advisory Expert Group, the AFC will not only ensure our competitions continue to implement the highest medical protocols, providing greater clarity and offer advice as well as assistance during these unprecedented times.”

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has today announced that Unitel will be the first ever broadcaster in Mongolia to show the AFC competitions in the period from 2021 to 2024.
The deal includes all major AFC national team and club competitions, including but not limited to the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar, the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup from the 2021 season, the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 and the AFC U23 Asian Cup Finals 2022 and 2024.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Appeal Committee today dismissed the appeal lodged by Persepolis FC against the decision of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee (DEC) pursuant to which Mr. Isa Alkasir was found to have violated Article 58.1 of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code (2019 Edition).
The Appeal Committee upheld the sanction imposed in the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee decision in full. Isa Alkasir is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (which includes, inter alia, all domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures) for six (6) months for violating Article 58.1 of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code (i.e. October 3, 2020 to April 2, 2021) and is also ordered to pay a fine of USD10,000.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), together with the Qatar Football Association (QFA), have today confirmed Doha, Qatar as the venue for this year’s AFC Champions League single-leg Final, which will be held on December 19, 2020.
With the successful conclusion of the AFC Champions League 2020 (West) in Qatar recently, as well as the upcoming preparations to host the East region matches next month, the AFC noted that the QFA met all the necessary hosting capability and capacity and medical infrastructure to host the Final of Asia’s premier club competition.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), after discussions with the Kuwait Football Association and all relevant parties, has decided to further postpone the AFC Futsal Championship Kuwait 2020 and it will now be held in 2021.
The decision was confirmed after taking careful consideration of the safety and well-being of all Participating Teams and stakeholders and in response to the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in Kuwait.
The new dates for the Competition and other related matters and information will be communicated in due course.
Additionally, the AFC also notes the Chinese Football Association’s (CFA) decision to withdraw from hosting the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022 due to scheduling conflicts, stadium completion timelines ahead of other international events and challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The AFC will now reopen the invitation to host the final Competitions of the 2022 and 2024 editions of the AFC U23 Asian Cup.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has today agreed that telecommunications giant FPT Telecom will be their new media partner in Vietnam from 2021 to 2024. FPT Telecom secured the AFC rights through a competitive tender process, which had been launched by the AFC and Football Marketing Asia (FMA) in September 2019.
FPT Telecom’s deal includes all major AFC national team and club competitions, including but not limited to the AFC Asian Qualifiers - Road to Qatar, the AFC Asian Cup China 2023, the AFC U23 Asian Cup Finals 2022 and 2024, the AFC Champions League and the hugely popular AFC Cup from the 2021 season onwards.
FPT Telecom will provide extensive coverage of Vietnamese national team and club matches as well as all neutral matches through various offerings including their FPT TV (Truyền hình FPT) and FPT Play services.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Champions League (East) is to be played in Doha, Qatar after an agreement was reached today between the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA).
The AFC Champions League (East), which will be played between November 18 and December 13, 2020, follows the successful completion of the AFC Champions League (West) in Qatar.

Kuala Lumpur: The growing reputation and prestige of the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) competitions have been reflected by a revamping and rebranding of the AFC age group championships to become AFC Asian Cups from 2021.
At the same time the AFC Futsal Championship, AFC Women’s Futsal Championship, AFC U-20 Futsal Championship and AFC Beach Soccer Championship will also become AFC Asian Cups after the AFC Executive Committee ratified a recent decision by the AFC Marketing Committee.
Dato’ Windsor John, the AFC General Secretary, said: “We believe the change reflects the new stature of the competitions and by further strengthening the brand and commercial value of our competitions, there will be significant benefits for the AFC and its Member Associations.

Kuala Lumpur: The return of the AFC Champions League (West) has confirmed the remarkable success of the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) website and social platforms since the last match in the competition in March 2020.
The lockdown and suspension of fixtures has not affected the extraordinary growth that the ‘fan-first’ digital strategy has delivered in the last six months with the 2020 figures overtaking those achieved in the entirety of 2019 – which also included the AFC Asian Cup record total engagement of 890.2 million.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), in close coordination with Qatar medical authorities, continue to conduct regular COVID-19 tests on all participating teams in the AFC Champions League (West).
The results of those tests have shown that one (1) player from Qatari side, Al Sadd, has tested positive for COVID-19. Al Sadd are in Group D of the AFC Champions League and will play Al Ain, of the United Arab Emirates today.
All the appropriate medical support is being given to the team and the player who tested positive is under medical supervision in a quarantined environment as required by the safety measures and COVID-19 protocols put in place for the tournament.
In addition, and as part of our commitment to ensure the safety of all participating delegations, the AFC medical team together with Qatar's medical authorities are continuing to conduct COVID-19 tests for all participants in line with the agreed safety regulations.
