AFC President calls on global football family to unite behind FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
Kuala Lumpur: With just more than two weeks remaining until the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has urged the global football family to firmly unite behind the sporting spectacle.
The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be held from November 20 to December 18, will be only the second time an Asian country hosts the tournament, following the Korea/Japan FIFA World Cup in 2002.

Shaikh Salman held wide-ranging discussions on the progress of Malaysian football with Datuk Hamidin and the FAM leadership with the focal points being the recent impressive performances of the Malaysian national team Harimau Malaya and club sides JDT and Kuala Lumpur City FC, and the efforts undertaken by the governing body of Malaysian football.
Kuala Lumpur: Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), met with Jerry Tan, President of the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association (NMIFA), today here in Malaysia's capital.
After their membership application was granted by the 30th AFC Congress in December 2020, NMIFA became the newest member of the AFC and the Asian football family, bringing the AFC's membership to a total of 47, distributed over the vast Continent.
