ASEAN & East Asia Wrap: Maclaren hits milestone in City win; Nam Dinh stay top

Kuala Lumpur: Melbourne City striker Jamie Maclaren became the first player to score 150 goals in the A-League as his hat-trick powered his side to an 8-1 win against Brisbane Roar on Thursday, but it's their rivals Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix who lead the pack in Australia. 

In Vietnam, Nam Dinh opened up a three-point lead at the top following a 3-0 defeat of Viettel on Wednesday while Binh Dinh are up into second place after Becamex Binh Duong fell to a 3-0 loss at the hands of defending champions Cong An Hanoi.

F Marinos appoint Kewell as head coach

Kuala Lumpur: Yokohama F Marinos will be led into the last 16 of the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 by Harry Kewell after the former Australia international was named the club’s new head coach on Sunday.

Kewell replaces compatriot Kevin Muscat, who announced his departure from the J1 League side at the end of the just-concluded season having led the club to the domestic title in 2022.
 
The 45-year-old former Leeds United and Liverpool attacker joins after working as assistant coach to Brendan Rodgers at Scottish Premiership side Celtic, having previously worked as head coach at English sides Crawley Town, Notts County, Oldham Athletic and Barnet.
