A new V.League 1 season got underway in Vietnam, with defending champions Hanoi FC held to a 1-1 draw by Viettel FC in their opener while Cong An Hanoi made a stunning start to life in the top flight as the ambitious newcomers overcame Binh Dinh 5-0.

Queiroz named Qatar head coach

Doha: Qatar Football Association on Monday named Carlos Queiroz as their men's national team head coach.

The Portuguese, who will be 70 on March 1, has been to the FIFA World Cup four times, three with Islamic Republic of Iran where he was in charge for nearly a decade in two different spells.
