ASEAN Wrap: Victory win the Big Blue; Top two falter in Indonesia

Kuala Lumpur: The league season kicked off in Australia with Melbourne Victory earning the bragging rights in the Big Blue with a 2-0 win against rivals Sydney FC on Saturday while defending champions Central Coast Mariners and defending Premiers Melbourne City both fell to defeats in the opening week. 

It was a disappointing week for the top two in Indonesia as frontrunners Borneo FC dropped points in a 1-1 draw with Persib Bandung on Saturday while their closest challengers Madura United failed to capitalise as they went down to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Dewa United the following day. 
 
Nam Dinh and Ho Chi Minh City were the only winners as the Vietnamese top flight returned for a new season while there were also matches taking place in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia and Myanmar, so join the-AFC.com as we review the week’s action from ASEAN.
