AFC’s #BreakTheChain continues to inspire hope in battle against COVID-19 

Kuala Lumpur: Vietnam and Viettel FC defender Bui Tien Dung, Thailand star Charyl Chappuis as well as China PR and Shanghai Shenhua winger Cao Yunding are the latest trio of Asian stars to feature in the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) BreakTheChain campaign, which continues to engage with millions of fans to do their part in combating the transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Advocating the World Health Organization’s (WHO) guidelines on social distancing, personal hygiene and where applicable, staying at home, the mass awareness campaign has garnered the support of more than 120 Asian icons offering helpful and hopeful reminders amidst these unprecedented times.

AFC President hails Asia’s ‘guiding lights’ as more than 100 stars pledge to #BreakTheChain

Kuala Lumpur: Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President, today thanked the 100 players, officials and match officials who have contributed to promote the World Health Organization’s (WHO) messaging during the current COVID-19 crisis.

The AFC President described the Member Associations, the players, officials and match officials, who have led the AFC’s #BreakTheChain campaign, as ‘guiding lights during these dark and challenging times.’

The 100th person to join the much-heralded campaign was Ali Mabkhout from the United Arab Emirates and the AFC has reached that number in just over 10 days – the first 50 signing up in just 48 hours to promote the messages of the highest standards of hygiene, social distancing and, where Governments have stipulated, staying at home.

AFC’s #BreakTheChain inspiring messages continue to reach new territories 

Kuala Lumpur: China PR international and Beijing FC midfielder Li Ke, Guam national team skipper Jason Cunliffe and Qatar and Al Duhail forward Ismail Mohammad are the latest Asian stars to pledge their support behind the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) BreakTheChain series. 

The mass awareness campaign, which today marks one month since its launch, has been widely supported by the AFC Member Associations with more than 120 players and officials lending their voices to stop the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak by adhering to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) guidelines, while galvanising millions to remain calm and positive during these unprecedented times.
