Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has extended its deepest condolences to the family and friends of former English footballer and manager Ken Shellito, who passed away aged 78 on Wednesday.
Shellito will always be remembered for his efforts and passion for the game, not only during his playing career but also as a technical analyst with the AFC, where he worked between 2008 and 2012.
The Englishman was then a consultant for the AFC Technical Department from 21 March 2012 to 2018.
Shellito spent his entire playing career at English Premier League club Chelsea, making 123 appearances between 1959 and 1965 and managed the Blues in the 1977-78 season. The attacking full-back earned his solitary England cap in 1963 and also featured in the England v the Rest of the World XI match the same year.
As a manager, Shellito took the helm at Cambridge United in 1985 before moving to Malaysia, where he coached several clubs, Kuala Lumpur (1994), Perak (1995) and Sabah (1998), before taking up a role as a match analyst for the AFC.
