Three goals were scored in the 15th minute with Somphone Samphaonon and Souk Ananh scoring a piece for Laos and Jose Gusmao finding the net for Timor Leste. However, Varela’s equaliser was enough for Timor Leste to earn a point in their first match of the competition.
