Bangkok: Myanmar emerged third in the Group B of the AFC Futsal Championship 2014 Asean Zone qualifiers but failed to make it into the next year’s finals as Malaysia edged them on goal difference.
Needing a big win on their last match of the campaign, Myanmar tried their best by defeating Timor Leste 10-0 but still fall short on goal difference as Malaysia scored 26 goals and conceded 10 while Myanmar scored 19 and conceded the same number of goals.
Thailand, by virtue of finishing second in the AFC Futsal Championship 2012, are not involved in the qualifications and Vietnam being the hosts of the 2014 edition are also automatic entrants making three places available from the Asean Zone.
Friday’s semi-finalists Indonesia and Australia alongside Malaysia qualified for the next year’s finals.
