Tashkent: Khurshed Makhmudov alone scored five goals as Tajikistan made a promising start of the AFC Futsal Championship 2014 South and Central Zone qualifiers with a 8-4 win over Kyrgyzstan.
Tajikistan, who managed to win a single match in the group stages of the AFC Futsal Championship 2012 finals, are joint top with Uzbekistan who thrashed Turkmenistan 10-1 in another match of Tuesday at the Uzbekistan Sports Complex.
Alisher Ulmasov put the Tajiks ahead in the 11th minute and a quick double from Makhmudov put Tajikistan 3-0 up before the break.
Kyrgyzstan pulled three goals back through a double from Nurjan Djetybaev and 30th minute strike from Dilshat Kadyrov but flurry of goals in last four minutes sealed victory for Tajikistan.
Ulmasov scored his second and team’s fourth in the 36th minute and Makhmudov netted three goals in last three minutes to pull the thriller in Tajikistan’s favour.
Tajikistan will face hosts Uzbekistan while Kyrgyzstan take on Turkmenistan on Thursday.
