Ho Chi Minh: Korea Republic made a resounding beginning of the AFC Futsal Championship 2014 East Zone qualifiers after they registered a convincing 5-1 win over Macau on Friday.
Playing their first match of the campaign, the Koreans were dominant from the beginning as Lee Min-yong opened their account in the 3rd minute. Kim Min Kuk doubled the lead in the 7th minute and despite Macau pulling one back in the 9th minute through Lei Ka Hou, goals from Nagoya Ocean star Shin Jong-hoon, Kim Jang-goon and Park Ha-nul ensured a comfortable victory for the Koreans.
The Koreans will face Chinese Taipei next on Saturday. They had a disappointing campaign in the previous edition of the continental futsal championship after failing to muster a single point in the group stages.
The top three sides will qualify for the next year’s final alongside with champions Japan from the East Zone.
