Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation has announced that Colin Gibson has been appointed as its Director of Media & Communications.
The highly regarded Englishman, who was most recently in charge of communications at the Baku 2015 European Games, takes up his role in Kuala Lumpur with immediate effect.
As a former Director of Communications at the English Football Association, the International Cricket Council and the England and Wales Cricket Board, Gibson brings with him a wealth of experience from football and other international sports, as well as having a wide knowledge of the media landscape throughout Asia and across the world.
AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has welcomed the appointment of Gibson, a former journalist, who is now tasked with overseeing the implementation and further development of the AFC’s key media and communications strategies.
