Colombo: Sri Lanka Air Force pulled a stunning 3-0 win over last year’s AFC President’s Cup runners-up KRL Football Club to progress into the finals of the competition.
Going into the match, the hosts needed a win to progress and they showed their intent in the frantic 10 minutes of the match in which they scored three goals and stay calm to see off the match.
Striker Duminda put them 1-0 ahead in the 3rd minute and his goal was followed by Hashan Dharshaka’s goal in the 7th minute as Sri Lanka Air Force breezed through the 2-goal lead.
They struck their third goal two minutes later through midfielder Kavidu Ishan. And despite playing the final half-an-hour with a man less after Janaka Chaminda was red-carded, the Lankans hold on to book a place in the finals.
Sri Lanka Air Force finished Group A in second position behind Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra of Bangladesh who sealed the top spot after a comfortable 4-0 win over Bhutan’s champions Ugyen Academy.
