Dubai: UAE Football Association President Yousuf Yaqoob Yousuf Al Serkal has asserted the football body’s continued commitment to developing coaching in the country.
A Member Association Coaching Instructors' Course, hosted by the UAEFA in collaboration with the AFC, and aimed at preparing and qualifying candidates to become coaching instructors at the FA and AFC levels, has begun in Dubai.
Al Serkal, who officially opened the 10-day course on September 6, welcomed the instructors and candidates and thanked AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and AFC General Secretary Dato’ Alex Soosay for the efforts to develop every aspect of the game.
“The UAEFA is taking all the necessary steps to contribute to the qualification of its (coaching) staff to keep pace with and spearhead the movement within Asia,” he said in his speech.
Al Serkal also urged the candidates to make the most of the course which will eventually have a positive impact on football throughout the country.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Mohammed Abdulla Hazzam, acting Secretary General of the UAEFA.
The programme contains theoretical lectures held at the UAEFA headquarters and practical applications at the Al Shabab Club. It is being supervised by Kuwaiti Badr Ahmed Abdul Jalil and S. Nair from Singapore.
According to Abdul Jalil, the decision to hold the course is a courageous one, and the gains to be made will be of great benefit to the future plans of the association.
“The qualification of local elements will contribute to coaching development and will upgrade the overall performance and standards of the game within the UAE national teams since a qualified coach will produce a strong side.
"They (the participants) will feel the difference very soon,” he said.
The participants are briefed about the principles of coaches training and the role of the instructors. The AFC rules in regards the basic football coaching qualification, the AFC ‘C’ certificate, which coaching instructors are tasked with delivering to aspiring coaches, are also reviewed.
Sixteen coaches have been selected to take part in the training course: Dr. Balhassan Malouch, Abdul Hamid Mohammed, Abdulla Saqr, Abdulla Shaheen, Khaled Mohammed Dahes, Ali Khamis, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Haddad, Al Hai Jumaa, Abdul Majid Ebrahim, Hussain Abdul Aziz, Essa Mohammed, Jamal Ali, Zakariya Ahmed, Omer Mohammed, Horiya Hussain.
