Incheon: Chinese Taipei surrendered the lead twice to draw 2-2 with Jordan in their campaign opener at the 17th Asian Games women’s football Group B event at the Namdong Asiad Rugby Field on Monday.
Goals from Lin Ya Han (15’) and Wang Hsiung Huei (26’) seemed to give the Taiwanese a good lead heading towards the break but it was not to be as Jordan skipper Stephanie Mazen Yousef Al Naber reduced the deficit seven minutes into first half stoppage time.
It did not take long for the Jordanians to level the scoreline after the break however, Maysa Ziad Mahmoud Jbarah scoring on 49 minutes to secure a share of the spoils for the West Asians.
In a later Group B match at the same venue, Japan and China had a goalless draw in their opener.
Japan had nine shots, two of which were on goal, while the Chinese also had two shots on goal out of four shots. The Japanese failed to break the deadlock despite having 60 percent of the ball possession.
