Kabul: The Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation celebrated World Radio Day 2018 with collaboration of AIPS, AIPS ASIA and the Asian Football Confederation.
ASJF organised a one-day sport media workshop for radio journalists with the theme “Radio broadcasting for Peace, Development Initiatives and Gender Equality in Afghanistan”.
Twenty-five radio journalists - five women and fifteen men - took part in the workshop, while Mujibullah Rahmani, International Relations Director of the Afghanistan Olympic Committee, Sayer Zaland President of Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation, sports analyst Javid Khawar, Khoshhal Taib, Vice President of ASJF and Manager of Workshops and Training Committee Zaher Noori presented on the theme of the workshop.
ASJF President Sayer Zaland welcomed the journalists to the workshop and spoke about the aims of the ASJF in relation to World Radio Day.
He added that ASJF was holding the workshop under AIPS and AIPS ASIA, with the support of the AFC, and expressed a wish that more long-term workshops for media in Afghanistan will be held in the future, bringing more female journalists to sports.
Zaland also thanked the National Olympic Committee, the AFF and all other sport organisations who have offered their assistance in the last few years and encouraged journalists to focus on sport and peace in Afghanistan.
ASJF held similar workshops under the same theme in four different regions in Afghanistan. In Laghman province, 15 journalists attended the event, in Helmand 18 radio ournalists attended while in Kandahar 12 journalists were part of the workshop.
Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation is preparing to organise 11 national workshops and one workshop for Asian reporters in Kabul in 2018.
