Bangkok: Thailand's Bluewave Chonburi showed great fighting spirit as they went down 3-2 to Brazil's Carlos Barbosa in their final World Intercontinental Futsal Cup Thailand 2018 Group A match on Wednesday.
Playing in front of a large home crowd, Chonburi stood toe-to-toe against one of the powerhouses of world futsal.
Barbosa were dominating with a three-goal lead but backed by great home support, and a shift in tactics, Chonburi fought back to score through Peerapat in the 38th minute.
Ronnachai then ensured a nervy finish for Barbosa when he struck Chonburi's second goal a minute later but the Brazilians held on for the win.
Chonburi will now play defending champions Magnus Futsal of Brazil while Barbosa will meet Spain's Barca Lassa in Saturday's semi-finals.
